Drinking Around the World at EPCOT: The Adults' Day, Done Right

Eleven countries ring the EPCOT lagoon, and every one has its own little kitchen and its own little bar. Drinking around the world is the classic adults’ day here: one lap of the World Showcase, a small pour in each pavilion, and a few hours to do absolutely nothing useful. The whole game is restraint. Order the small size, split it with your person, and don’t rush from Mexico to Norway like you’re being timed. We’ve done this loop happy and we’ve done it badly, and the difference is almost never the drinks — it’s the pacing and a couple of things we either remembered or forgot to bring. 1. Crossbody Phone Lanyard — your hands are full and your phone is gone

Nobody warns you that you can’t hold a margarita, a churro, and your phone at the same time. Something hits the pavement, and it’s usually the phone. A crossbody lanyard parks it flat against your chest where you can glance at the next reservation or snap the photo without setting anything down. Both hands stay free for the actual point of the day.

2. Insulated Can Cooler — Florida heat versus your cold beer

The walk from Germany to Italy isn’t long, but in July it’s long enough to turn a cold can warm and sweaty. A can cooler keeps a beer or a hard seltzer drinkable from the moment you crack it to the moment you finish it, somewhere near the Italy water feature. It also keeps the condensation off your hand, which matters more than you’d think when you’re holding it for two pavilions.

3. Park Belt Bag — both hands for snacks, not for stuff

A drinking lap is a snacking lap. Pretzels, dumplings, that one pastry you’ll talk about for a week. A belt bag holds the wallet, the sunscreen, the lip balm, and the phone when it’s not on the lanyard, and it sits out of the way so both hands stay free. We like the kind that zips fully — you’re going to be leaning over railings to take photos, and gravity is undefeated.

4. Sunglasses Strap — sun to shade to sun, all day

Half of World Showcase is full Florida sun and half is dim, air-conditioned pavilion. You’re putting your shades on and taking them off constantly, and somewhere around France one of you sets them down on a table and walks away. A strap keeps them hanging at your collar between countries instead of riding on top of your head until they slide off into a fountain.

5. Collapsible Water Bottle — the trick to actually finishing the loop

Water between countries is the whole secret. A drink, then water, then the next drink. Do that and you reach France in good shape; skip it and you’re sitting on a bench in Japan wondering why. A collapsible bottle packs down flat when it’s empty, refills at any fountain around the loop, and clips to the belt bag so it isn’t one more thing in your hands.

6. Electrolyte Powder Packets — tomorrow’s you says thanks

This one’s for the morning after, and it’s the cheapest insurance on the list. A stick pack of electrolytes in a glass of water before bed does quiet, unglamorous work while you sleep. You woke up planning a magic-hour park day tomorrow, not a slow one. Pack a couple — they weigh nothing and you’ll be glad they’re there.

That’s really it: hold less, sip slower, drink water, and tuck a packet away for the morning. The drinks are the easy part — the day stays good when the small stuff isn’t fighting you.
