Mistake
Your feet will hate you without this
June 3, 2026
Nobody plans for their feet, and then day two of the trip hurts.
A Disney park day is 20,000 to 30,000 steps. That’s farther than most people walk in a week, done on hot pavement, often in shoes that felt fine for a normal day. The result is blisters and chafing that turn the back half of your trip into a slow limp from bench to bench.
The fix is two cheap things you apply before anything hurts.
First, anti-chafe balm. A quick swipe on your feet, heels, and inner thighs in the morning stops the friction that causes both blisters and that raw, burning chafe. It takes ten seconds and you’ll forget you did it — until you notice, at the end of the day, that nothing hurts.
Second, hydrocolloid blister bandages. These aren’t regular Band-Aids. They’re cushioned gel patches that stick through sweat and actually protect a hot spot instead of sliding off. The trick is to put one on the moment you feel a hot spot starting, not after the blister forms. Toss a few in your bag and forget about them until you need one.
Two more things that help: wear shoes you’ve already broken in (a park day is not the time for brand-new sneakers), and if you have room, pack a second pair so you can swap mid-trip.
It’s the least glamorous gear on this whole site. It’s also the stuff that decides whether day four is fun or painful.
