Packing for Disney World in December: Warm Days, Cold Mornings, and 16-Hour Party Days

December is our favorite time at Disney World and the hardest to pack for, because the weather can’t make up its mind. You’ll start a morning at 45 degrees and be peeling layers by two in the afternoon, then put them all back on when the sun drops and the party runs past midnight. Most “Disney packing” advice is written for the summer heat and quietly assumes you’ll never be cold — December breaks that assumption. Here’s what we actually pack for the swing, the long party days, and the lights, plus an honest note on the cold-weather gear the parks don’t sell cheap.

1. Compression packing cubes — you’re packing for two climates at once

A December bag has to hold both a fleece for a 45-degree morning and a t-shirt for an 80-degree afternoon, for everyone, for a week. Compression cubes are what make that fit in a carry-on, and keeping each person’s layers in their own cube means the morning scramble to find a jacket isn’t a suitcase excavation.
