EPCOT is Disney's best food park — treat it like a food crawl

Every photo in this one is mine, from my own park trips. EPCOT gets billed as the ride park with the giant golf ball, but the real attraction is the food. No other Disney park comes close.

Here’s the mistake most first-timers make: they eat at EPCOT the way they eat at Magic Kingdom — one big counter-service meal, a long line, forty dollars, done. That wastes the whole point of the park.

World Showcase is eleven country pavilions in a ring around a lagoon, and almost every one has food worth crossing the park for. So treat it like a food crawl: order small, share everything, and taste your way around instead of filling up in one place.

A few stops I keep going back to:

Japan is the sleeper pick. Fresh sushi and a sake flight, in a calm sit-down setting while the rest of the park fights over chicken tenders. It never feels crowded the way the headliner restaurants do.

Germany is the easy win. A warm soft pretzel and a cold beer. That’s it. That’s the whole assignment, and it costs less than a park burger combo.

The festival booths are the best value in the park. EPCOT runs festivals most of the year — Food & Wine in the fall, Flower & Garden in spring, Festival of the Arts in winter — and each one lines the lagoon with booths selling tasting-size plates for a few dollars each. Two people sharing can try eight or ten things for the price of one table-service meal.

And pace yourself on drinks. “Drinking around the world” is a real tradition for a reason — a glass of something local with a view of each pavilion beats any bar at home — but the people you see succeeding at it are sipping, not chugging.

One lap around World Showcase eating this way and you’ll never stand in a burger line at Disney again.

Keep planning
